the underground station "weberwiese" on the U5 line was built in 1930. it was destroyed by a bomb attack in february 1945 (world war II) but re-opened already in june 1945. its walls were covered with tiles which started to fall off a few years ago, and since water was dripping through the ceiling here and there, the station looked a bit run-down until it was reconstructed in 2003/2004.
the dim light and the stale air always made you feel a bit uncomfortable, especially at night when there were hardly any people on the platform and silence overcame the whole station.

the pictures were taken in july 2002, and they hopefully convey some of the atmosphere before reconstruction.
