for those who
live in berlin or plan a visit:
i highly recommend
to check out "der leiseste club der welt", a club/lounge event that
takes place once a month on a sunday.
yesterday rene
& pete (= scion) from hardwax played there along with paul
st.hilaire, and as a bonus there was a gentleman who is said
to own the biggest dub/reggae record collection in europe and who
is a central figure in the basic channel label conglomerate ;)
it was not only
the music but also the venue and the crowd that made this event
so special. an old dark factory building near a river, a hall of
concrete, bricks, steel, and old pipes. the room was equipped with
warm lights, and was full of all kinds of comfortable chairs, sofas,
armchairs, and even swings. looking through the windows you saw
the neighbouring abandoned buildings, and -as a contrast- a nearby
skyscraper behind them.
they played lots
of burial mix, rhythm & sound, and main street records, with additional
sound effects, and paul st.hilaire singing live; later they
played pure original dub and reggae. music that just makes you happy.
people enjoyed themselves very much, it was great to feel the enthusiasm.
i love berlin.
