karneval der kulturen - carnival of the cultures "carnival of ethnities"... parade & festival of ethnities on the street, showing their traditional clothes, dances, music, etc. there are parties and concerts as well as a market place where you find everything from persian food to african accessoires to turkish music releases.

lange nacht der wissenschaften - long night of sciences keen on taking a look at scientific laboratories, archives, libraries, collections, and other scientific facilities? once a year berlin and potsdam colleges & universities, research labs, and university hospitals open for the public until late at night.

fete de la musique celebrated every year at the beginning of summer
- 21 june. established in paris 1982, now taking place in about
100 cities worldwide.

sandsation international sand sculptures festival visitors can not only witness the making of the sand sculptures but also take part in the nomination of the german sand sculpture award. besides, there will be guided tours, child animation, hobby competitions, as well as parties and concerts in the evening. another highlight are sandcarving workshops that are offered regularly. additionally, a beach area is provided, with beach chairs, sand toys, and catering.
